Saint Vincent and Grenadines: The Tourism Authority announces Annette Mark as the new CEO of the federation since Glen Beache resigned from his position a year ago.
The Saint Vincent and Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA) was looking for a new face for its CEO, since the former CEO Glen Beache resigned from his position on September 8, 2023.
Beache, who previously served as the Minister of Tourism, Youth, and Sports, resigned from his position while stating, “I am grateful to the opportunities which I had, I am also grateful for the team that I led over the years from both the ministries but especially the tourism authority.”
Since Beache left, Avanell. DaSilva, the authority’s quality development manager was subsequently looking up for the duties until Anette Mark was appointed as the new CEO.
Mark has previously worked as the Executive Director of Invest at SVG Legal Council and as Chief of Immigration for Antigua and Barbuda.
She has also worked as a government expert for Antigua and Barbuda on the Working Groups of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) and the Mechanism for the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention Against Corruption.
Mark with this new opportunity will look forward to enhance the marketing of the island’s tourist attractions with this new opportunity. She will also be assessing the damage caused to the island nation by the passage of Beryl and will launch necessary initiatives to overcome tourism damage.
Mark while stating about her plans to revamp the tourist industry in SVG noted that, “Marketing is another focus for me”. She highlighted that the federation is planning to add new marketing professionals to help SVG rebuild after Beryl and act as a benchmark for others.
“We are also looking forward to considering rebranding, re-messaging, and re-tooling in our approach. It is going to be one of the busy years combining all of this together.” She added.
Mark further noted that the experience that one could gain in SVG, will never be available in other Caribbean islands as SVG is home to beautiful flora, mountains, and beaches.
“I’ve been to practically every Caribbean Island, and while each is unique, St. Vincent and the Grenadines stands out because we provide two separate experiences. Mainland St. Vincent is home to mountains, flora, animals, and black sand beaches, while the Grenadines have coral reefs and some of the world’s most beautiful white sand beaches.” She said.
The appointment of Anette Mark signifies the beginning of a new chapter for Saint Vincent and Grenadines’ Tourism sector. Mark’s astounding leadership and commitment, sound trustworthy toward her goal of creating a visitor-friendly island.
