Grenada has hosted its first ever underwater wedding at the Grand Mal Underwater Wedding Chapel last week. A couple from the United States Arthur and Kim Miller who are also the members of the National Association of Black Scuba Divers chose Grenada for their dream underwater wedding.
This unique wedding garnered international attention and positioned the island nation as a distinctive destination for romance as well as adventure. This milestone also marked the first ever black wedding to take place underwater.
The brand new underwater chapel located at Grand Mal is an innovative addition by the Grenada Tourism Authority. The chapel blends the diving culture of the island with its romantic appeal and makes it a stunning setting for destination weddings.
Following the development, the Grenada Tourism Authority expressed their pride and noted that they feel honoured to host this record breaking that will forever be etched in the hear of the island’s pristine waters.
The CEO of GTA, Petra Roach outlined that the Grand Mal Underwater Wedding Chapel was envisioned to offer couples like Arthur and Kim with an extraordinary setting that uniquely blends adventure and romance.
She added that the venue showcases her team’s commitment to creating experiences that celebrate both the remarkable beauty of the marine environment and the desire for unforgettable moments.
Roach added that the wedding represents a first of its kind event which sets the island nation apart as the ultimate location for couples looking for unforgettable celebrations.
In addition to this, Arthur and Kim also experienced the island’s culture and natural beauty during their stay as they visited the Belmont Estate and the Annandale Waterfalls.
Their excursions apart from the wedding clearly shows the effect which weddings will bring to the destination as each stay is anticipated to extend into tours and activities that will foster growth in local economic activity for attractions, guides as well as surrounding businesses.
The wedding marked a huge milestone in the history of Grenada’s tourism sector and is anticipated to inspire a number of other couples looking to take vows in a dreamy and unique way.
