Trinidad and Tobago: A flash flooding and unsettled weather has affected Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday due to the heavy showers and thunderstorms. The gusty winds and scattered showers have filled the streets with excessive water and affected the entire traffic of several parts of the country.
Flash Flooding blocked the Arima Old Road, which remains temporarily impassable to vehicles across the island nation. Due to the adverse weather conditions, the citizens experienced disruptions in their daily activities with road blockage and excessive rainwater.
Cloud-to-ground lightning strike also captured at the Uriah Butler Highway due to the severe thunderstorms and heavy downpours on Thursday at 12: 36 pm. Due to the unsettled conditions, the street flooding affected the entire island nation.
The western coastal areas across Trinidad and Tobago have been affected due to the moderate to heavy showers and the scattered rainfall also occurred in the central and eastern areas.
Notably, the met department also issued the yellow alert for the adverse weather conditions in Trinidad and Tobago due to the conditions of the heavy showers and flash flooding. After that, the adverse weather alert has been discontinued for the country with the start of the heavy rainfall.
Trinidad and Tobago have been experiencing inclement weather conditions as in the starting of the July month, the flash flooding occurred in several parts. The streets have been filled with excessive water due to the heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, causing disruptions on the roads with block conditions.
The conditions are due to the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season which began on June 1, 2024, and will run through November 30, 2024. As per the prediction, the season is likely to remain super active due to the 20 to 24 named hurricanes.
The first hurricane of the season- Beryl affected the Caribbean Islands and caused massive destruction all over the countries. Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Jamaica faced huge devastation with the loss of homes, agricultural aspect and other infrastructure.
