Trinidad and Tobago: Adverse weather alert with yellow level has been issued for Trinidad and Tobago, forecasting medium to high chance of isolated heavy showers and thunderstorm activities.
Due to the gusty winds, Trinidad and Tobago is likely to experience heavy downpours and severe lightning as the speed of the wind is located near 55km/h. The heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected to increase the chances of the street and flash flooding.
The met department added that the speed of the winds can be dangerous for the unsecured roofs, causing tents to jump and larger or weaker trees to fall. The showers and other thunderstorm activities are likely to spread across Trinidad and Tobago over the next few hours, posing threats to the low-lying and flood-prone areas.
The residents are asked to remain cautious in the situation as the moderate to heavy showers are now moving onshore Tobago. The showers and thunderstorms are also moving towards Trinidad and Tobago with the chances of the heavy rainfall over the next 1 to 2 hours.
At this situation, the dangerous aspect of the weather is the gusty winds which is located near 55 km/h as it is likely to affect the flood prone areas ahead of the heavy rainfall. The wind speed could produce the chances of the weather disturbance and further the downpours will lead to the flooding.
The tropical wave is still approaching towards, and the threat of the Sahara dust is still looming over the Caribbean region. The waves have been producing the chances of heavy showers and thunderstorms which could lead to inclement weather conditions.
As per the met department, the showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop and more across Trinidad and Tobago from the east in the night. The weather has been posing threats to the Caribbean region due to the ongoing hurricane season.
Few days ago, Trinidad and Tobago recorded heavy rainfall and massive street flooding, causing disruptions to daily lifestyles of the citizens. The streets and roads have been blocked with excessive water, causing the problems of mosquitoes.
