The Police Force in Guyana has reportedly found and seized around 135 Pounds of drugs, suspected to be cannabis. The narcotic was seized at the shores of the Berbice River.
According to the reports, the discovery of the drugs was made during the joint operation conducted by Guyana Defence Force Coast Guard Unit and Guyana Police Force.
During the patrol duty alongside Berbice River in Region 6 they observed a boat approaching but after seeing the guards it suddenly changed its direction with an intention to flee, the team chased the board till it hit the shore. After which officers saw 3 identifiable people getting off from the and escaped the site.
On conducting the search, the authorities found 10 huge parcels which were completely wrapped in black garbage bags and transparent plastic wrap with a mark of B20 on each parcel written with bule marker.
The Coast Guard officers went back to the river to search for the suspects, but they couldn’t find them. They then contacted the police and informed them about finding the narcotics.
After seizing the narcotic, it was sent to the Central Police Station. On weighing, it came out to be 135 pounds, and the boat from which it was seized is currently at the Coast Guard Base.
Reacting to the news, the residents have been expressing rage on how every day such large quantity of narcotic is being found and the suspects are running from the site in front of the police officials and can never be found again. One user commented, “it is an everyday story.” Another user named Lucinda Kurtzious commented, “I am tired and fed up , every time I see the hold up Marijuana coming out of region.”
Shevon Fredericks added, “use the forces to capture those criminals walking in y’all face!”
The Guyana Police Force is continuing its investigation and trying to identify the culprit responsible for this.
