First Saint Lucian Olympic Medalist Julien Alfred has received national recognition as the ‘Fastest woman in the world’ from the Saint Lucia Government. To honor her with pride and respect, a special concert was conducted in Saint Lucia. Various celebrities, along with Prime Minister Philip, were present at the event.
The St. Lucia government and people gave her a whopping cash prize of XCD One Million Dollars for her great game. Along with that, she was highly appreciated with a commemorative exercise book with photos. Several other awards were also given to her, such as ‘A plot of land’ of her choice measuring Ten thousand seven hundred twenty square feet and an official Julien Alfred stamp.
Various sponsorships were given to her as a token of respect and support for her excellent performance. To name a few, she got sponsors of M&C that presented her $30,000, as did Massy Stores. Unicomer promised $30,000 worth of gym equipment. Chreiki & Sons pledged $50,000. Landings came through with $10,000 per annum. And 758 Adventures awarded $25,000.
To give her national recognition, the Millennium Highway was renamed the Julien Alfred Highway. Her confidence and game gave her a lot of support from her people. To honor her publicly, the St.Lucia government also allowed the construction of a monument at the new Cul de Sac Roundabout that portrays her achievement.
Alfred has been internationally sponsored by PUMA since turning pro in 2023; she has also been a brand ambassador for 1st National Bank since 2022.
Recently, she was announced as the ‘Tourism Ambassador’ for the destination by the Saint Lucian Authorities of Tourism. Alfred expressed her happiness when she proudly said, “Doing something for the nation is what every citizen should be proud of.” “I cannot decide what makes me happier, winning a medal in the Olympics or being a ‘Tourism Ambassador.’
Philip J. Pierre, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, appreciated Julien Alfred for her major contribution. He took to his official Facebook handle and announced several awards, keeping in mind the achievements of Julien Alfred. He also said proudly, “You have” inspired our nation and made us proud. Thank you, Ms. Alfred.”
Prime Minister Philip also received Julien Alfred from the Airport on her day of return. The 23-year-old has been an achiever this year by winning three consecutive titles. She got both gold and silver medals in the Paris Olympics 2024 and also a gold at the World Indoors 60m champion.
Julien Alfred thanked her fans and supporters from her social media account and promised to perform the same way in all her upcoming matches.
