Roseau, Dominica: Dominica has won the match against Saint Lucia in the 2024 Windward Super 50 champion on Saturday. The team secured the victory by 36 runs against the host country in the sixth match.
After winning the toss, Dominica chose to bat first and set the target of 169 runs in 44.3 overs. Saint Lucia has their 2-year unbeaten streak ended by an extraordinary bowling performance led by none other than Gilon Tyson.
Saint Lucia’s championship fate is no longer within their control. They must await the result of the match at Mindoo Philip to see how things play out. Regardless of the outcome of the tournament, Dominica will return home with a sense of pride. They’ve done something no other team could and have tarnished Saint Lucia’s record.
After 15 overs, Saint Lucia were 90 for 6 and they need to chase 170, but Dominica made it tough for them after they lost their all wickets in 22.3 overs.
The 2024 Windward Super 50 Champion is underway between different countries including Dominica, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada.
In the same day, the second match was held between St Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada in which St Vincent set the target of 227 runs by making 226 runs in 36.5 overs. The match was held at Mindoo Philip Park, but Grenada would believe that they have the bowling to win the match.
The matches will decide the two teams for the semi-final round for Windward Super 50 tournament as three teams will get the chance to take the trophy home as Dominica won the match, now the result of St Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada will decide another champion.
Earlier, Dominica also won match against Grenada by setting the target of 285 runs in 49.2 overs. The team won the match by 67 runs on August 9, 2024, as they were all out by making 217 runs.
