Earlier this August 2024, the recent developments of the educational building in Maruranau Village, Region Nine, have been marked as an important milestone that will serve students from Maruranau, Shea, and Awarewanau villages.
According to the Office of the Regional Executive Officer Region Nine, the newly established facility began its orientation and enrollment this week. It was deemed an important education hub for students in that Region Nine municipality. Around 180 students from Maruranau and other settlements, such as Shea and Awarewanau, will be offered secondary education.
Minister of Education Priya Manickchand has also stated that the Ministry will continue providing educational access for every Guyanese child from nursery to secondary school. A total of 26 new secondary schools are also under construction around the country, and primary and nursery schools are being expanded in underserved areas such as in the Rupununi to broaden base educational opportunities and infrastructure.
