St Kitts and Nevis: Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Denzil Douglas participated in the 14th edition of the Global Blockchain Congress which at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai. The two-day event was held on February 5 and 6 and saw participation of a diverse array of global investors.
In a social media post, the Minister shared details about his participation and said that he was invited as a guest in his capacity as the Minister of Investment and Economic Development. This forum brought together investors from across the world to discuss the ever-evolving landscape of blockchain technology and digital economies.
According to Dr Douglas it was a great chance to meet several of the citizens as businessmen looking for opportunities to enhance their businesses as St Kitts and Nevis has publicly declared its aim to grow its economic utilising digital tools of Artificial Intelligence as well as Blockchain technology.
He further emphasised that networking among economic citizens is highly motivated by this government in seeking opportunities for enhancing employment and growth in the digital economy which is driven by technology.
Notably, this Blockchain Congress took place for the first time in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. “There will be another held later this year here and others have been held in other countries like Singapore and China,” said Minister Douglas.
He further stated that St Kitts and Nevis is being internationally recognised as an emerging leader in digital economic development within the region which strengthens the government’s intention to integrate blockchain technology into its economic framework.
“This is why St. Kitts Nevis had to be present at this Congress, and we are hoping to be a host country in the future as we come to terms with the cryptocurrency realities of the times and the global acceptability of CBI and the Global Virtual/Digital Citizen. The future is most exciting,” he added.
Apart from the conference, Minister Denzil Douglas engaged with the nationals of St Kitts and Nevis and several business professionals in Dubai. He also expressed his interest in positioning the Federation as a future host country for the Global Blockchain Congress.
