The cost of eggs faces backlash on the Internet as it shoots up from $12.00 to $14.00 per dozen. Earlier, the price of eggs was increased in July 2022, more than two years back. Both white and brown eggs will be sold at the cost of $14.00 per dozen starting on the upcoming Monday, 16 September 2024.

The whole rate of egg cases has made a massive jump from $360.00 to $420.00. After the news outbreak, there was a massive disappointment in the middle class as the prices have risen to an all-time high in recent times.

The Antigua and Barbuda Layer Farmers Association, stated in a recent interview that the high cost of both brown and white eggs is due to the increasing input costs. Also, the price hike has no relation to any other criteria. They also mentioned that the high input costs have caused significant trouble for selling eggs. So, the ultimate solution for this was to increase the price of eggs.

The price hike will have a major impact on the consumers who take eggs as their staple diet. After the news outbreak, many of them have raised concerns about the price hike and the affordability of their daily meals.

The Farmers Association has responded firmly about their decision regarding the egg price hike, expressing their rising input cost to produce the same. The increased price of eggs will contribute to managing the costs of feed, transportation, and various other input costs. Overall, every single dollar will help them produce the best quality eggs for consumers.

Netizens sparked controversy over the price hike. Many internet users favored the decision of the Farmer’s Association, whereas some were totally against it. The controversy struck mixed reactions from the netizens on the Internet regarding this decision.

The government has stepped forward to contribute significantly to the farmers’ needs in producing eggs. Apart from that, many more important details are yet to be disclosed publicly. It is expected that the price hike will impact consumers both negatively and positively.

Earlier, the rate of eggs increased in June 2022. During that time, the rate of eggs rose twice in the span of three months. The price hike went up from $10.00 to $12.00 in a shorter time period. With the previous experience of price hikes, it is expected that this time, it has a significant chance to soar in the upcoming months.
