Barbados: To accommodate Grand Kadooment revellers the traffic authorities have announced several traffic changes so as the parade can move smoothly and all the vehicles can use different routes and not get stuck in between. These changes will be put in place from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Monday, August 5.
According to the information shared, the Bands will parade exclusively along the designated route, starting at Helipad Car Park. The procession will move through Hincks Street, Princess Alice Highway, Prescod Boulevard, Elsie Payne Roundabout, President Kennedy Drive, Eagle Hall, Black Rock Main Road, Frank Worrell Roundabout, and The Mighty Grynner Highway in St. Michael.
It is to be noted that the emergency route will start at The Mighty Grynner Highway, and proceed along Exmouth Gap, Westbury Road, Passage Road, Country Road, Roebuck Street, Halls Road, and Martindale’s Road, in St. Michael.
The advisory stated that all these roads will be closed to vehicular traffic. Only vehicles allowed will be the ones used in the Kadooment Day Parade and by members of the Festival Committee. The closed roads include:
Wharf Road; Hincks Street; Princess Alice Highway; Redman Drive; Prescod Boulevard; Fontabelle Road; Westbury Road; President Kennedy Drive; Eagle Hall Road; Black Rock Road; Holborn Circle; and The Mighty Grynner Highway.
Additionally, The Mighty Grynner Highway, from its junction with Holborn Circle to its junction with the Frank Worrell Roundabout and Black Rock Road, St. Michael, shall be closed to all vehicular traffic, except those vehicles used in the Kadooment Day Parade and by members of the Festival Committee.
Further, the authorities have strictly warned that during the period of closure, no person shall drive along, park, or allow a vehicle to remain stationary on the parade route.
Also, these rules will not apply to any vehicles that are used by The Barbados Police Service, The Barbados Defence Force, The Barbados Fire Service, or any other emergency vehicles.
In case of any emergency or confusion, the authorities will be there to help the residents.
