Antigua and Barbuda: A 49-year-old Tedson Knowles, who was unanimously declared guilty of killing his 29-year-old partner Carissa Chandler, has been sentenced to 30 years of imprisonment.
This case was registered when Tedson Knowles, aged 44, reportedly shot Carissa Chandler during a domestic dispute on 29 May 2019.
He was found guilty on June 6, 2024, after three hours of deliberation.
According to the reports they both lived in the Apartment Complex in New Winthorpes, where residents have heard sounds of gunshots around 3:47 in the morning.
Knowles, after shooting, drove her to the Mount St John’s Medical Centre, where she was pronounced dead by the medical team.
The medical reports revealed Chandler was shot from a close range directed towards her chest, leading to blood loss.
Knowles informed the officials that his partner had been shot by someone who tried to rob them. However, the evidence stated otherwise; the police, during the investigation, found the firearm and several pieces of evidence against him.
Further the residents living nearby during the hearing revealed that they could hear their arguments and noise of object breaking and banging sounds on the day when the incident occurred.
Another witness informed that he heard the voice of Chandler crying for help before she collapsed in the middle of the stairs.
The authorities have shared that his sentence will be reviewed after he serves 20 years in prison.
After the judgement of 30 years have been passed, the residents can been seen expressing relief and preaching fellow females. One user on social media commented, “This is your sign to leave your toxic relationship today.” Agreeing with this, another user said, “Too many times we have women do cause this upon our self. We seening the red flags and we continue saying he ga change ! When where?”
Some users were condoling with her family, stating, “She is already dead..spending time in jail could never compensate for what her family is feeling…they need to bring back the death penalty for wicked ppl like this.”
