Guyana: The Ministry of Home Affairs shared the information of two youngsters went missing at the Unity Beach Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, yesterday. Following the incident, the Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn reached the scene where an extensive search operation was going on.
According to the reports, the two boys who went missing are Navin Seenauth,20, and Daniel Boodram, 17, who went swimming at the Unity Beach with another friend, Joshua Deonarine, 17-year-old. All three are residents of Unity Village.
Deonarine, the third friend, shared that when they arrived at the beach, the water was inshore with heavy waves. Despite knowing the situation, they went on to swim. However, Deonarine who does not know how to swim, came out of the water after 30 minutes as the water came to his chest height.
While he got busy dressing up, later, he noticed his two friends were no longer visible and he could not find them after searching for them.
He suddenly ran to his village and informed everyone about the incident and they informed the authorities about it. And promptly decided to make a search party, including the community members and they have been conducting the search operation since then.
Also, the Guyana Police Force is on the location and has deployed the Coast Guard to assist in search efforts.
