Grenada: The addition of a new Wednesday flight service between Grenada and Carriacou has been announced by the Tourism Authority of Grenada, which will be operated by SVG Air.
The new flight will commence from July 3, 2024 and will a 19-seater, twin otter aircraft. The main aim of this decision is to increase the connectivity between the islands and making it convenient for the travellers to visit Carriacou during the mid-week and enjoy the rich culture and explore the beauty.
The visit will let visitors experience not only the landscapes of Carriacou but also Petite Martinique.
This Wednesday flight will be in addition to the already existing Monday, Tuesday and Friday to Sunday service. This decision has been taken to increase tourism during the summer months and keeping in mind the upcoming festival, Spicemas in the month of August. Also, to provide better connectivity for the newly launched Carriacou Carnival Cooldown which is scheduled for the weekend after the Spicemas.
Petra Roach, CEO, Grenada Tourism Authority, while sharing the update said that this introduction will enhance the travel experience for not only the visitors but locals as well.
He further added that this move will also provide ease and flexibility for the travellers and also will play a crucial role in the tourism sector, by increasing the visitor number in the peak festive season.
The new Wednesday flight between Grenada and Carriacou by SVG Air will enhance accessibility and boost tourism in the sister islands, Minister Tevin Andrews of Carriacou and Petite Martinique stated.
In seasons like Spicemas and the newly launched Carriacou Carnival Cooldown this new flight will attract more people to the island and provide them with the chance to explore the rich culture of Carriacou, Minister Tevin added.
Sharing the news, SVG Air informed that the travellers can now enjoy the most scenic flight with the most reliable aircraft. The flight will take 20 minutes to reach the destination and will cater the needs of all the risen demands, be it business or leisure travellers.
