Trinidad and Tobago: Periods of rain, isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms have been predicted for Trinidad and Tobago between Tuesday and Thursday this week.
Due to the Saharan dust and other inclement conditions, the chances of strong gusty winds, flash flooding and landslides are expected across the island nation. The threat of the tropical wave has also been looming over the Caribbean region and the Atlantic seems closed for business through the end of July 2024.
The tropical wave is also set to bring heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorm to the region this week, causing the chances of flash flooding. According to the Met Department, more Saharan Dust is expected to impact the Caribbean region by the end of the week. The tropical wave is also likely to bring rainfall due to the Saharan dust by mid-week.
The dust level is projected to remain elevated through the end of the month 2024. Besides this, the level of the wind is also set to increase from mid-week at the weekend as it will also lead to an increase in the level of the seas in open waters.
The conditions are also likely to become moderate once more and the seas may become locally choppy or rough in heavy showers and thunderstorms. The isolated thunderstorms and scattered rainfall is also predicted after Thursday for Trinidad and Tobago, aiming to impact the entire region with the tropical wave moving west to northwest.
The gusty winds is also likely to remain upto 50 km/h, short-lived, localized street showers and there are also severe chances of the flash flooding which could be happen due to the heavy downpours.
The 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season began in the Caribbean region in June 2024 and will run through November 30, 2024 with 20 hurricanes. Out of these hurricanes, 6 storms will remain major and impact the region by remaining super active.
The first hurricane of the season- Beryl devastated Grenada and St Vincent and the Grenadines to its core with the loss of 90 to 95% of its infrastructure.
