Trinidad and Tobago: More than 500 cases of dengue have been confirmed in Trinidad and Tobago, as announced by the Ministry of Hospital on Saturday. The rise in the patient contaminated with dengue has been experienced in hospitals across the island nation.

Ministry of Health confirmed that Victoria County in Trinidad and Tobago has been facing continues rise in the number of infections. The Insect Vector Control Unit has visited over 130 households and started assessments of the situation to control the dissemination.

Health Minister Terrance Dial Singh confirmed that more than 85% of dengue cases have been reported in the country is from Victoria, Kearney and Saint Patrick counties. However, the Victoria County is leading with 50 cases.

The Minister said that its for this reason he decided to update the nation in Dengue at the San Fernando Teaching Hospital as opposed to Port of Spain. Even his calls continue in South Trinidad for the authorities to clean thirty-two water causes to prevent the spread of Dengue.

Minister Singh added, ”I have been keep telling that it’s not dirty water, it’s clean clear water which is increasing the cases.”

To reinforce this point, the Minister brought three vials with mosquito larvae in swamp, drain and clean stagnant water. He said, ”We have test tubes of live larvae clean standing water and the larvae are alive and other tube is consisted of same larvae from contaminated water, and the larvae are all dead.”

The breeding sites included the barrels of water which is used for householding refining breeding sites and water used for gardening. The Ministers also came across novel sites like sliding door track in the bathroom and dish racks in the kitchen.

Now the minister lamented that health officials have been met with hostility by some homeowners and 166 homeowners have been issued with notices to clean their properties. But the ministry is looking to implement other legal measures and stated that there is need to clean the properties to ensure that they don’t have harbor clean, clean and standing water.

It will help in reducing the cases of the dengue and the number of deaths.
