Castries, Saint Lucia: Olympic Gold and Silver Medalist Julien Alfred all set to return to Saint Lucia on September 24, 2024, after her Paris Games Milestone. The country has been gearing up for the homecoming celebration for the champion as a series of events and activities will be held to honour her accomplishments.
The countdown has begun in Saint Lucia as they will welcome their first-ever Olympic champion- Julien Alfred who won Gold and Silver in the Paris 2024 Summer Games. The celebration will be held at the grand level and the activities will be commenced on September 24, 2024.
The announcement of the homecoming was made by Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire who noted that Julien is getting here on September 24, 2024. She will be coming to the country for about three or four days, and he pledged that the government will ensure that her homecoming and welcome celebration will be massive.
According to Deputy PM Hilaire, the government is planning a comprehensive programme for her and make sure that she gets a welcome and recognition fitting of an Olympic Champion and becoming the “Fastest Women in the World.”
He invited all the citizens and supports to gather for the celebration and noted that this is the moment to take pride in being Saint Lucian. The celebration will be held in a grand style upron her return to the island next month.
As per the government, several activities including music, dance, performances of the artistes and motorcade rally will be organized to extend congratulation and gratitude to Julien Alfred.
Julien Alfred won the first-ever Olympic medal for Saint Lucia and become the Gold Medalist in the 100m sprinting. She defeated the renowned Sha’Carri Richardson from USA and created the history for winning first medal for the country.
In addition to that, she also won the silver medal in the 200m and take the medal tally of Saint Lucia to 2 in the recently concluded Paris Olympics 2024 Games.
Now, she is returning back to her home soil, her country is preparing for the massive welcome that will be given at the airport when she touches down in Saint Lucia.
Notably, she garnered attention from across the globe for winning Gold and defeating US at the global stage. Being a native of the small island state, it has become a huge means of proud for the country which was being named at the Olympic stage. Her achievement was also well-celebrated at Saint Lucia during her victory as people organized rallies and parties for their first medal in the games.
