Alexis Jeffers congratulated Minister of Culture Eric Elevyn and his entire team for following all the courses of action to ensure foreign exchange.
The Nevis Housing and Land Development Corporation (NHLDC), earlier on October 3, 2024, successfully shipped around 2,550 tons of aggregates to St. Martin via Atlantis. The shipment is anticipated to bring about solid financial returns for the NHLDC, truckers, fuel suppliers, NASPA, and Inland Revenue.
Alexis Jeffers, Deputy Premier of Nevis and Minister of Natural Resources shared pictures of the construction site on his social media account. He opened up about the export to update the residents of Nevis and said these significant initiatives will bring great work opportunities for the people of the island.
He asserted, “I have always been a firm believer and hold the view that we as an island must seek out every opportunity to export some commodity or commodities on these boats that bring cargo to our shores. This translate into good business for the boat operators, the shippers and the island of Nevis. ”
Deputy Jeffers also congratulated Minister of Culture Eric Eevlyn and his entire team for following all the courses of action to ensure the importance of foreign exchange. This helped the nation to grow its potential and overall economic prosperity.
The export advantage coordinates with the NHLDC’s commitment to exploring new avenues for economic growth and diversification.
The increased export initiative aligns with the NHLDC’s commitment to explore new economic growth and diversification avenues.
As a result, other islands benefit from the production of locally manufactured commodities from cargo vessels coming to neighboring islands. Nevis can fetch more revenue from the export of similar products. This proves advantageous to the NHLDC and adds to the general development of the economy in Nevis. This will help to spur business activities and generate employment.
On top of this, recently, in June 2024, the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) negotiated for approximately 30 acres of land in the parish of St. James that will be sold to nationals in Nevis and in the Diaspora.
Premier Mark Brantley mentioned the ongoing negotiations in his June 19 press conference. He said, “The government is now in the final stages of acquiring some lands at Garners Estate, just over 30 acres of land. Those lands will be subdivided, and we will be offering those lands for sale to citizens [here] and to citizens in the Diaspora.”
According to Premier Mark Brantley, the lands will be sold through the Nevis Land and Housing Development Corporation (NHLDC).
