Antigua and Barbuda: The much-anticipated LIAT 2022 has officially returned to the skies after taking inaugural flight to Saint Lucia.
The inaugural passenger flight departed from VC Bird International Airport in Antigua and Barbuda on Tuesday. After several delays and disruptions, the flight has finally started its commercial operation and made it to the skies for passenger service.
In order to celebrate the occasion, the authorities in Antigua and Barbuda hosted the inauguration ceremony and outlined the success of the LIAT.
During the inauguration, Prime Minister Gaston Browne addressed the gathering and lauded the occasion. He said that this is a great occasion for the airline and the entire nation.

In his speech at the ceremony, Prime Minister Gaston Browne expressed pride and optimism on the return to the skies. The airline has been celebrating a significant milestone for regional connectivity and economic recovery.
The airline will offer direct service of flights from Antigua and Barbuda to several other Caribbean nations including Grenada, Barbados, and Saint Lucia. LIAT 2020’s inaugural flight offered service to the passengers who were the first one to be part of the first-ever passenger flight.
It will also serve as the getaway for Barbados on August 8, 2024, as special fare was also outlined. The one-way fare will start from as low as $206.00. The flight will also provide service to Grenada from Monday to Friday, and it will kickstart on the Independence Day of the country.
The service will be provided with special one-way fares which will start from as low as $327.00. LIAT has returned to the skies after COVID-19 period when the airline collaborated with the Air Peace- a Nigerian based company.
