Day 5 of the International Netball Championships ended well as the teams played thrilling matches against each other. Antigua and Barbuda made 31* against Cayman Island 56*. At the same time, all the other teams also had a tough competition with each other.
The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), has collaborated with the Caribbean Netball Association and the St. Lucia Netball Association to organize the Championship. The International Netball Series is being held in Saint Lucia From 21 September to 30 September 2024.
A total of 21 matches are scheduled for the tournament, and the match will be held at Saint Lucia.
ECCB Connects took to their official Facebook handle, where they shared the results of Day 5 of the International Netball Championships. Netizens showed their support for the final games that will be taking place on 29 and 30 September 2024.
A total of seven teams competed against each other in this Championship. These are Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Dominica, Montserrat, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, and The Grenadines. The Cayman Islands have appeared as the guest team to increase the ranking of the netball championships.
The tournament has served as a platform for netball development in the region. This provided the athletes with great experience and exposure to various international-level tournaments. All the matches were streamed live, allowing netball fans to see their favorite teams in action.
The series started on 22 September 2024 with the grand opening ceremony along with the matches at the Beausejour Indoor Facility in Gros Islet. The ECCB’s sponsorship of the tournament shows the Bank’s continued commitment to the overall development of the region’s women through sports.
President of the Caribbean Netball Association (CNA), Rufina Paul, said, “The Caribbean Netball Association is elated and thankful for ECCB’s sponsorship, which made it possible for seven of its member countries to compete in this World Netball-approved event,”
The results of Day 5 impressed the fans of the teams. Antigua and Barbuda made 31* against Cayman Island 56*, whereas Monsterrat made 15* against Saint Vincent and Grenadines 101*. Grenada also made the upper hand by making 95* against Anguilla 11*, followed by a great effort by Saint Lucia 63* against the Dominican 37*.
All the teams will now face each other on the last days of the tournament, which is 29 and 30 September 2024.
