Georgetown, Guyana: The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) has announced that the Lieutenant Colonel Mohinder Ramjag, Commanding Officer of Air Station London, has been recently awarded with the esteemed Order of Aeronautical Merit (Commander) by the Brazilian government.
The GDF further shared that this honour was presented to him during the Brazilian Army Soldiers Day 2024 ceremony. The ceremony was also attended by Acting Chief of Defence Staff, Colonel Sheldon Howell.
During the ceremony Lieutenant Colonel Ramjag received the award from the Brazilian Military Attaché to Guyana, Colonel José Roberto de Vasconcellos Cruz. The authorities shared that this award has been bestowed upon him for his exceptional service in the field of aviation.
Further, the authorities highlighted his significant contributions and his role in increasing the collaboration and enhancing the military cooperation between Guyana and Brazil.
These were the few factors that made him stand out and receive such a prestigious award, the guests narrated.
Similarly, Maria Cristina De Castro Martins and Brigadier (ret’d) Godfrey Bess, former Chief of Staff of the GDF, were also honored with the Brazilian Army Medal along with Lieutenant Colonel Ramjag.
All the awardees have played a significant role in building and strengthening the diplomatic relations between the two countries. Their outstanding efforts in fostering collaboration has certainly enhanced the diplomatic relations of Guyana and Brazil which would benefit both the countries in the long-run.
Additionally, several dignitaries, including Branch Heads and Senior Officers of the Guyana Defence Force attended the award ceremony and joined the recipient of prestigious awards in celebrating their achievement.
Further, the Acting Chief of Defence Staff, Officers, and Ranks of the GDF extended congratulations to Lieutenant Colonel Ramjag and all other recipients of these prestigious awards. They also appreciated their unwavering hard work and commitment the awardees have constantly been putting towards the nation’s growth.
The Guyana Defence Force further pledged to remain committed at strengthening its bilateral partnerships with Brazil, especially in the areas of defence and security. They also extended gratitude to Brazil for this honour to its officers.
