The Ministry of Education in Grenada has taken the initiative to provide Education care packages to the students after the Hurricane Beryl disaster caused trouble in the country. More than $1.5 million is being distributed in education care packages. This ceremony took place in the VIP room at Kirani James Athletic Stadium.

Initially, around $222,000 was distributed among the students. It is expected that over $1.5 million will be further distributed to the school children in the coming ten months of school. This package will cover $2000 for accommodation, meals, and transportation of the students. Along with that, $500 will be provided for the school uniform, along with $1200 for the textbooks.

The Ministry of Education in Grenada took this major event to its official Facebook page, where it highlighted its importance. They also mentioned that “From the second month, students will receive the $2000 monthly payment to cover living expenses, given that uniforms and textbooks will have already been covered in the initial payment.”

Many students from Carriacou and Petite Martinique have migrated to Grenada after Hurricane Beryl destroyed many places. Almost 80 students who come to this place will also benefit from this ceremony. This will help them to have an uninterrupted study flow despite the hurricane disaster.

Prime Minister Hon. Dickon Mitchell, Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government Hon. Tevin Andrews, Minister for Education Sen. the Hon. David Andrew, and representatives from sponsors of the initiative, Laluna Boutique Hotel and Villas, Sandals Grenada and CPL T20 Cricket were also present at this event.

Before this education care package, the Grenadian government also provided help to the farmers and various locals of the country by providing an incentive package after Hurricane Beryl. In this package, $4500 was provided to farmers having less than 5 acres of land and $9000 to those having more than that.

Along with an incentive package, the government provided various materials of support. In a recent initiative by the Housing Authorities of Grenada, large-scale repairs were provided to the homes that were severely affected by the hurricane. All this will help the affected people and will contribute the most to their lives.

Hurricane Beryl attacked the parts of Grenada and various nearby places during the early days of July. This powerful cyclone attacked the houses of people and also affected their livelihood.

It is expected that the initiative taken by the government will prove beneficial in restoring the country’s condition as it was before Hurricane Beryl.
