Grenada: The residents of Petite Martinique are currently facing a shortage in water supply and have been voicing their concerns due to the situation. Looking into the matter, the National Water and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA) has acknowledged that they are facing challenges at the desalination plant.
Sharing this update through the Facebook Page, NAWASA informed that the authorities are currently experiencing challenges with the production of water from the Petite Martinique Desalination Plant due to a system malfunction.
Further, the update noted that as a result of malfunction, they are unable to distribute water at this time.
It is to be noted that the efforts are currently being made to speed up the shipment of the required part. However, the authorities cannot provide the exact timeline for when the plant will be operational again.
Additionally, NAWASA has urged the residents to save water and utilize available resources sensibly. Alternative water supply arrangements are being explored to mitigate the impact of this disruption.
Earlier, on August 1 the NAWASA authorities announced that they have successfully completed the ongoing restoration work at the Carriacou and Petite Martinique Desalination Plants. These have been damaged after Hurricane Beryl hit the country on July 1.
The residents have been facing problems since then. But the authorities have been providing potable water supply to public facilities
The authorities have apologized for the disruption and for its delayed operations.
