In the latest match of the CPL 2024 season, Barbados Royals defeated Antigua and Barbuda Falcons for the third time in a row at Antigua’s Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
In the second over, Barbados Royals’ bowler Maheesh Theekshana caught Falcons captain Kofi James before getting Fabian Allen out at 118-7.
Roshon Primus added 16 runs quickly to help the Falcons reach 145-9 with the help of Sheldon Cottrell. Royals’ openers Quinton de Kock and Rahkeem Cornwall reached 50 in five overs without losing a wicket.
Cornwall’s quick 76 runs helped the Royals to 146-1, with de Kock scoring an unbeaten 87 off 45 balls. This innings led the Barbados Royals to 146-1 in just 15.3 overs.
At Warner Park, St Lucia Kings hunted for an impressive five-wicket win against hosts St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, who lost their second straight match of the CPL2024 season.
At the Warner Park, St Lucia Kings captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to field first. Openers John Campbell (33 off 17) and Ben McDermott came out for bat first, making light work with a stand of 56 in quick time.
Despite an early run-out of skipper Andre Fletcher, Evin Lewis and Kyle Mayers turned the match around with aggressive batting. Lewis scored a century off just 54 balls.
The Kings struggled in their goal, losing early wickets to Mayers and Anrich Nortje. Bhanuka Rajapaksa steadied the innings after Tim Seifert’s out, guiding the Kings to a five-wicket victory with eight balls to spare, chasing down 202 runs and handing the Patriots their second consecutive loss in the CPL 2024 season.
