Guyana: An accident at Fairfield on the Essequibo Coast has claimed the life of a teenager who attends the Aurora Secondary School and has injured his friend of Onderneeming Sand Pit on Sunday.
The reports reveal that the dead is 16-year-old Julio Joseph of Pomona Housing Scheme, and the other friend, Gavinash Narine, 20, of Onderneeming Sand Pit, Essequibo Coast, was injured and is still being treated in the hospital.
According to Police reports, the accident occurred in the wee hours of Sunday. The driver, Gavinash Narine, was reportedly imbibing with Joseph and another friend moments before and is believed to have been intoxicated beyond the legal limit.
It has been reported that the dead teen did not consume alcohol. However, while driving back home, Narine lost control and crashed into a house in Fairfield, Region Two.
The CCTV of the accident has also been circulating which reveals that the car was beyond normal speed and got out of control at the residential area. The driver tried to control it, but the car took several turns and banged into the gate of a house damaging the gate and the wall.
Immediately, both of them were rushed to the hospital, but Joseph succumbed there while receiving the treatment, while Narine is still receiving the treatment.
After the news of Joseph’s death was spread, the residents have been expressing their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
While some have been sharing their rage as the youngsters seem to not follow the guidelines issued by the authorities, one user named Desiree Vanlewin commented, “Speeding kills, and it seems that drivers don’t value their own lives much less others.. The Traffic Department of the Gyana Police Force is always appealing to drivers to use the road with respect but it seems that this is getting out of hand.. lots of vehicles on the roadway..only alternative is to reduce the speed limits. Rest in Peace young Soul.”
