Aruba: The aircraft of WINAir parked at Queen Beatrix International Airport in Aruba after the cancellation of the flights due to the passage of the Tropical Storm Ernesto. The aircraft was scheduled to provide service to Princess Julianna International Airport, Saint Martin.

The Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Saint Martin amid the threat of the natural calamity and the heavy rainfall. Due to the inclement weather conditions, several flights have been disrupted and the WINAir was also one of them.

WINAir authorities expressed gratitude to the airport and said that they are thankful for the international airport for being the home away from home and keeping their aircraft safe while Storm Ernesto passes through Saint Martin.

The airline authorities outlined that they will provide updates about the reopening of the airports and further details of the resumption of the flight. WINAir added,” And we thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we weather this storm. Updates on office reopening and flight schedule resumption can be found on our website.”

Tropical Storm has passed several countries including St Kitts and Nevis and Antigua and Barbuda, bringing several inclement conditions. Now, Ernesto will turn into Hurricane during its journey towards British Virgin Islands and cause disturbance in Puerto Rico.

The passing of Tropical Storm Ernesto will affect the operations of WINAir on Tuesday and Wednesday. With the unpredictability of storm, Winair has relocated their aircraft to a more secure and safe area and hopes to restart limited services Wednesday August 14th depending on the post storm conditions.

The situation arises due to 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season as Tropical Storm Ernesto was the fifth storm of the season. It will turn into the second hurricane of the season as the Caribbean will have been devastated by the first Hurricane Beryl in June 2024.

The met department lifted the warnings for St Kitts and Nevis and Antigua and Barbuda, but the Hurricane Warnings have been issued for British Virgin Islands.
