Trinidad and Tobago: United Airlines Flights 1459 landed at Piarco International Airport in Trinidad and Tobago with a delay of 14-hour on Thursday afternoon. The flight was late from its scheduled time due to the passage of Tropical Storm Ernesto.
United Airlines offers direct service of the flights to Trinidad and Tobago from Houston, Texas. The airline also reintroduced the route several years after shuttering the service from New Jersey.
The flights will start operation on December 19, 024 for non-stop service from Newark Liberty International Airport to Piarco international Airport. The service will run through January 6, 2025.
Recently, Tobago-born pilot Jerone Lawrence piloted a United Airlines flight and surprised his mother who was travelling in first-class with his position. His mother shared a heartwarming hug after he made the announcement, and the moment also made others wipe up their tears as the emotional scene was captured onboard the flight.
Due to inclement weather conditions, several airlines have cancelled their flights resulting in a chance of the routes and directions. The strong winds and heavy rainfall have brought disruptions in the service of the flights, causing damage to the properties across Trinidad and Tobago
Earlier, British Airways also changed its direction for its service to Trinidad and Tobago as the flight was schedule to land at Runway 28. The disruptions in the airlines have caused inconvenience to the passengers which also led to a 14-hour delay in the flight of United Airlines.
The passage of Tropical Storm Ernesto caused massive flooding across several areas and communities of Trinidad and Tobago. Traffic has been stranded along South Quay and Independence Square Port of Spain due to the excessive water, causing flooding and other disruptions.
The entire Port of Spain was hit by floods and the heavy rainfall with the bad weather conditions. Flooding along St Vincent Street of Port of Spain also made vehicles stop at one space where people faced problems in heading towards their home.
Tropical Storm Ernesto strengthened into Hurricane on Wednesday and caused massive rainfall across Puerto Rico and British Virgin Islands. Now, the hurricane has moved away from the Caribbean, it will turn into Hurricane Category 3 while moving towards Bermuda.
The 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season has been posing a threat to the Caribbean region with the chances of passage of numerous hurricanes and tropical storms. Ernesto was the fifth Tropical Storm and third Hurricane of the Season. The weather has been posing threat to the Caribbean region with new problems and storms.
