Two young girls aged 10 and 11 lost their lives in a tragedy as they drowned in Enchanter Creek along the Linden Soesdyke Highway. It is reported that the tragedy took place around 3:30 p.m. The victims, Akira La Rose and Joylyn Jack were at the creek with family members. The family was celebrating Akira’s birthday. The celebration also included their grandmother, 53-year-old Allison Klass, and Joylyn’s father, Oswald Jack.
The girls were enjoying their time and rejoicing as the birthday celebrations started. Soon the girls Akira and Joylyn were seen playing in the water. After this, the family couldn’t find the girls, and were missing from the spot. An immediate search began to find the two young girls. An alarm was even raised, and a search party began strolling around the spot location. But after some time, the two girls were found in the water unresponsive.
The gathering which was intended to celebrate Akira’s birthday, soon turned tragic and heartbreaking for the family. Soon after the search started, Joylyn was found at first. She had a pulse while she was taken out of the water. All the people and bystanders present there witnessed how she tried to revive after performing multiple rounds of CPR. But after they saw it wasn’t of any help, they soon reached out to 911. But the help arrived late. Joylyn was rushed to a nearby hospital, and from the health faculty, no news about her death was issued as an official statement. A short time after this, the police retrieved Akira’s lifeless body. The family was all shattered to see the dead body of their 10-year-old, that too on her birthday.
Soon after, the girls were unresponsive to any medical help. Emergency services soon started to take action. The police officers and even the civilians present transported the children to the Diamond Diagnostics Centre. Even after multiple attempts to save the girls and revive them to life, it turned out to be an unsuccessful attempt. They were immediately declared dead afterward.
The investigation of this case is still ongoing. The police haven’t given any official statements stating the exact causes of the victims’ death. The preliminary examinations have been carried out. The results show that there are no signs of violence found in the girls’ bodies. The bodies have been transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The post-mortem examination of the bodies will be carried out there to know further details on this case and the actual reason for the death of the girls.
