Trinidad and Tobago: A 65-year-old man was robbed and tied up at gunpoint between late Thursday, March 19, and early Friday, March 20, by the man whom he invited for drinks. It is being reported that both had known each other for six months.

The victim has been identified as a 65-year-old male resident of Fairways, Maraval, Trinidad, but the further identity about him including his name, family job has not been disclosed by the officers or by any source.

According to police reports, the incident took place on Thursday, at around 5:30 p.m., when the victim invited the suspect to his house to have drinks with him, whom he met six months ago at Smokey and Bunty’s Bar and had since maintained contact.

Until 1:00 a.m., everything was going good but the situation turned violent when the victim asked the suspect to leave. The suspect then refused to leave and instead pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the victim. After that the suspect struck the victim on his head and demanded valuables from him.

The reports indicate that the suspect then tied up the victim and robbed some valuables including $1,700 in cash, a Dell laptop valued at $12,000, and a black iPhone 11 valued at $3,000 from the victim’s house.

He also stole several bank cards, including Visa credit cards from Scotiabank and Republic Bank, and some personal and business debit cards, along with the victim’s national identification card and driver’s permit, before fleeing the scene in the victim’s Kia Niro valued at $225,000.

Since then the officers launched their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and are urging the residents to help them in arresting the suspect. The officials described the suspect as a fair-skinned slim built man of mixed descent, approximately six feet tall, and in his early forties.

The officers also stated that at the time of the incident the suspect was wearing a brown shirt and ripped jeans and had long hair tied in a bun. He also had crooked or missing teeth.

Authorities stated that the officers are continuing their investigation into the robbery and further details about the matter will be provided when available.
