Grenada: SVG Air Grenada resumed the operations of the flights from St Vincent to Grenada and Carriacou following the destructions caused by Hurricane Beryl. The Twin Otter aircraft will provide service for six days a week and flights will arrive at Lauriston Airport.
As per the official press release, all the systems for the regular flight service are not fully operational so the authorities have decided to implement manual operations until further updates.
Dexter Lendore- Station Manager of SVG Air Grenada added that the fixed lines are unavailable in Carriacou, and the customers are asked to reach out to the authorities through the official email and contact details.
The process of installing Starlink is also underway to provide Wi-Fi connections to the customers in the Twin Otter. The flight consists of 19 seats and will provide service on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Due to the impact of Hurricane Beryl in these nations, SVG Air announced changes to the schedule of the flights and further amendments will also be applicable under certain conditions.
The restoration work is also underway at Lauriston Airport alongside the Grenada Airport Authority as the massive destruction was caused by Beryl. The service will offer flights, and the schedule will again change after the restoration of the full operations at the airport in Carriacou.
As per the schedule, SVG Air will provide service from St Vincent to Carriacou at 8: 00 am and then the flight will depart Carriacou at 8: 40 am to Grenada. The service will again be provided between Grenada and Carriacou with the departure time of 9: 20 am.
The evening service is also added into the flight operations including Carriacou to Grenada at 4: 00 pm and Grenada to Carriacou at 4: 30 pm and Carriacou to St Vincent at 5: 00 pm.
The Grenada Airport Authority also outlined that the work is progressing on the critical personnel, facilities and service for safe, secure and efficient operations. According to the authority, the Ground Handling Services will be provided by SVG Air Grenada, and the security personnel and systems are in place for access control and passenger/baggage screening services.
The roof restoration work continues on the terminal building and the passenger processing services are already in place. Power is currently provided by a generator and the local service provider will be connecting direct power by Thursday.
The immigration and customs service have been notified and are prepared to provide service.
Notably, the Spice Mas is underway in Grenada and the airline will provide direct service to the tourists from across the globe. A round trip for just $700.20 on SVG Air will be provided through August 13, 2024, as the carnival will come to an end with the parade of the bands which is also a Last Lap.
