St Kitts and Nevis: The 2024 edition of the Security Forces United FC annual Crime Investigation Summer Soccer Camp was concluded in St Kitts and Nevis on Friday. Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew attended the event and spent some time with the participants and coaches.
The annual camp is being organized under the patronage of the Ministry of National Security, the Ministry of Sports and the Prime Minister’s office. The camp featured training from coaches for the students who are interested in soccer for the two weeks.
The coaches were invited from England and the United States who interacted with children through sports, fostering healthy environment among them. The camp also provided them with an environment that promoted involvement in sports, teamwork and discipline.
The camp was also considered significant to bolster the crime prevention efforts among the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis. Prime Minister Drew hailed the students and participants for showing great interest in the camp and stated that it was fun kicking the ball around.
He also thanked all the people who were involved in making this year’s camp a success. While encouraging participants, he asked them to take full advantage of the lessons being taught.
PM Drew added that the summer camp has turned out to be a great initiative for creating a safe and nurturing environment, aiming to advance the youths through sports.
He also shows off his own skills with football and played with the participants to foster the sports culture.
As per the reports, the camp was also aimed to foster a healthy environment among the younger generation and take preventive measures against Non-Communicable Diseases. It was expected that the camp could be a game-changer for the fight against NCDs like obesity, diabetes and heart disease.
With the camp, the participants get the chance to improve their physical health as well as boost their mental well-being, reduce stress, and strengthen community bonds. The community bonds have also been strengthened with the meaningful interactions among the people.
