Streets of Antigua and Barbuda to retain Carnival Parades for five days

Antigua and Barbuda: The streets of Antigua and Barbuda will retain its prominence during the Carnival festivities as the route for the parades have been unveiled. Kicking off on July 25, 2024, the opening of the parade will be held from on Independence Drive.

The parade which will be hosted by Ministry of Agriculture is scheduled to pave the route- Right on Independence Drive, left on Redcliffe St, then Right on Thomas St, again Right on High Street and then return to Independence Drive by taking left.

The second Carnival Parade will be held on July 27, 2024, from Old Parham Road with the celebration of the Oasis T-shirt Mas. From 3 pm to 9 pm, the parade will flow right on St Johnson’s Village Main Road, right on Factory Road, Left on Parliament Drive and Right on to Queen Elizabeth Highway, Right on Independence Drive, Left on Redcliffe Street, Right on Thoms Street, Right on High Street.

The West Indies Oil Company Junior Carnival will serve as the third event for Antigua Carnival on July 28, 2024, with the parade starting from Old House of Culture at 1: 30 pm. The patrons on the streets will celebrate the culture on the street of Queen Elizabeth Highway, Redcliffe Street, Market Street, Antigua Recreation Ground and Long Street Gate.

On August 5, 2024, the event J’ouvert will be celebrated from 3 am to 10 am with the parade moving on the streets of Vivian Richards Street, Independence Avenue, and Redcliffe Street. On the same day, the parade will also celebrate Carnival Festivities at Corner of Factory Road and Parliament Drive.

Several bands and exclusive performances will be given during the parade and the audience will be asked to judge the bands at 2 pm.

On August 6, 2024, bands of musicians will host the parade on the streets of the Corner of Factory Road and Parliament Drive, moving towards the closure of Antigua Carnival.

The Last Lap will be held from 7 pm to 10 pm on August 6, 2024 where the people from across Antigua and Barbuda will gather to celebrate the culture and tradition of Antigua and Barbuda. The St John’s Village Main Road and Queen Elizabeth Highway will be filled with colourful patrons who will sing last lap of the Carnival.

Antigua Carnival is the main event for the country to attract tourists from across the globe and provide a chance for the local community to thrive on their small businesses. From street vendors to tour guides, everyone with small business gets benefited from different festivities of the Carnival.
