St Kitts and Nevis: The series of the visits to schools by the Federal Cabinet has kickstarted in St Kitts and Nevis as part of the 41st Independence celebration. The series started with the visit to the primary schools in the east zone on Thursday.
The government officials including Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, Minister Samal Duggins, Minister Konris Maynard, Minister Marsha Henderson and other ambassadors interacted with the students in a productive meeting.
The delegation visited SKI Academic, the Cayon Primary School Violet Petty Primary School, Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary, Cotton-Thomas Comprehensive at the Estridge Campus, Edgar T. Morris Primary, Saddlers Primary and the Dieppe Bay Primary School.
The students and teachers talked to the prime minister and other officials about the school curriculum and the environment. The government asked them about the facilities and their other needs for their studies and the school infrastructure.
Prime Minister Drew encouraged students about the education and the significance of higher studies for their brighter future and career. He expressed delight in interacting with the children and noted that they represent the brighter tomorrow of St Kitts and Nevis.
PM Drew added,” Interacting with the children was exhilarating and it fills me with great hope knowing they represent the future. This reinforces my conviction that every life is precious.”
He asked the citizens to work for the betterment of the education sector of the country so that it could support the development measures. He noted,” Together, let’s strive to build a society where our children can flourish and reach their full potential.”
The events and the activities for the 41st anniversary celebration of St Kitts and Nevis Independence was kickstarted on August 28, 2024 as the Independence Day will be held on September 19, 2024.
Every year, the government organized a comprehensive series of the visit to the primary, secondary and high schools of St Kitts and Nevis to interact with students. Through these visits, the government makes them aware of the importance of Independence and how the national heroes have scarified their lives for the safety and security of the country.
This year, the Independence is being celebrated under the theme- “Together, A People, Proud and Strong: Independence 41.” Several activities have been started in St Kitts and Nevis including National Tree Planting Day, Colours Day and many more, showcasing true essence and vibrant culture of the country.
The events are aimed at bringing the communities together for the sustainable future and environment in St Kitts and Nevis.
