St Kitts and Nevis claims Chairmanship of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean States (GRULAC) at the United Nations, underscoring the nation’s development in regional and global affairs.
Now as the representative, St Kitts and Nevis will be responsible for promoting the interests of Latin America and Caribbean States in the UN.
Dr. Mutryce Williams, Permanent Representative of St Kitts and Nevis to the UN became the new Chairperson, succeeding Menissa Rambally, Permanent Representative of Saint Lucia to the UN.
Mutryce Williams stated that it is her honor to serve the Federation and their shared interests as the Chairperson representing them in the United Nation.
She further noted that her position as the representative of St Kitts and Nevis exemplifies the Federation’s goal to contribute to the work of the United Nations while dealing with issues like financing for development, sustainable development, and climate action.
Dr. Mutryce Williams stated that this role of Chairperson of GRULAC comes with opportunities to strengthen St Kitts and Nevis’ Federation’s ties across Latin America and the Caribbean, for both diplomatic and developmental aspects despite geoeconomic and geopolitical changes.
It is a proud achievement not only for Mutryce Williams and the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis, but also for the citizens of the twin island nation.
