Caribbean: Silver Airways cancelled flights due to the passage of Tropical Storm Ernesto and the heavy rainfall across the Caribbean region. The service which was scheduled to operate from August 13 to 15, 2024 has been cancelled amid the inclement weather conditions.
The travel advisory has been issued by the airline in which it was outlined that the passengers who were scheduled to travel in these days will have re-planned their trips. The airline also promised to waive change fees and fare differences for customers travelling Monday to Thursday.
The flights which are operated to and from Dominica, San Juan (Puerto Rico), St Croix (United States Virgin Island), Saint Maarten, St Thomas (United States Virgin Islands) and Tortola (British Virgin Islands).
Silver Airways also announced that the cancellation could further be increased for some countries as the threat of Tropical Storm Ernesto has not yet been cleared for several countries.
As per the airline, the customers who are seeking to use the fee waiver, they can contact them through an official website. Original travel must have been booked on or before Sunday in order to get the fee waiver and the customers are also asked to rebook their flights for travel through Tuesday next week.
The customers are advised to check the daily updates on the official website of Silver Airways and noted that further updates on the operations or resumption of the flights will be given on the site. The passengers can also get the detailed information about their money on the website and get the entire procedure refund done.
Tropical Storm Ernesto passed through several Caribbean region on Tuesday and Wednesday and caused destruction with heavy rainfall in the form of the street flooding and severe thunderstorms. Now, the storm has been intensifying into Hurricane and is likely to cause damage in British Virgin Islands and other countries across the Caribbean.
