Saint Lucia: In another electrifying match of the Caribbean Premier League 2025’s, played between Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Saint Lucia Kings, on Tuesday, 26 August, 2025 at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet Saint Lucia. The match showcased amazing power hitting and a fearless strokeplay, which led the Saint Lucia Kings to secure a 4-wicket victory.
The match began with the Guyana Amazon Warriors winning the toss and electing to bat first. Imran Tahir being the captain of Warriors said that they elected to bat first, hoping they can put on a strong start and put pressure on the home team with a big number. As the innings started Warriors were showing their intent to dominate the match.
As the top order did their work it was Romario Shepherd stealing the show with his powerful strokes and perfectly timed batting. He scored 74 runs* (not out) in just 34 balls. His innings was loaded with 5 fours and 7 sixes maintaining a strike rate of 214.71. His clean strokes and powerful shots were highly praised when he scored 33 runs off Oshane Thomas in the 15th over.
After his powerful innings the score that Warriors pulled off was 202/6 in 20 overs. The other contribution in the innings were of Iftikhar Ahmed – 33 off 27; Ben McDermott – 30 (18); Shai Hope – 23 (27) and Dwaine Pretorious 18* (6).
As the second innings started and the Kings stepped on the crease they changed the direction of the match. The score which was seeming easy to defend for the Warriors, the Kings showcased that no score is too much for them and in the CPL.
The openers for the Kings, Ackeem Auguste and Johnson Charles played a great partnership together. With his calculated elegant drives and pulls Auguste scored a blistering 73 runs off 35 balls, his innings lighted his home ground with cheers and celebrations.
His partnership with Tim Seifert steadied the momentum for the Kings as they both played, the momentum of the match diverted in their favour. Warriors also made prominent efforts with the ball and wickets kept falling.
As the wickets kept falling, the veteran player for the Kings stepped up as the anchor of the ship and played the perfect finishing boundary with 11 balls spare.
The man of the match title was given to Ackeem Auguste as his innings was powerful and also provided his team the confidence that they can chase it.
