Premier Mark Brantley thanked Taiwan on its 113th National Day for the great partnership and strong friendship over the past 41 years between both countries. The celebrations of Taiwan’s National Day took place in St. Kitts and Nevis, which commemorated the strong friendship and ties between the nations.
Premier Mark Brantley has consistently visited Taiwan and has always accepted Taiwan as “the best friend” of St. Kitts and Nevis on the international stage. His remarks during events, such as the Taiwan National Day Health Walk, convey the strong support and friendship for Taiwan, particularly in diplomatic matters.
Premier Brantley visited Taiwan as part of a federal delegation led by Prime Minister Terrance Drew from June 20 to June 27, 2024. This visit was aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between both countries. Taiwan has often provided financial help to St. Kitts and Nevis for various developmental projects. For instance, Premier Brantley received a cheque from the Republic of China (Taiwan) aimed at supporting multiple initiatives in Nevis 7.
Premier Brantley has expressed support for Taiwan’s participation in international forums, reflecting a commitment to uphold Taiwan’s presence on the global stage 4. This incredible partnership shows an effort towards commitment to collaboration, mutual respect, and shared interests between St. Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan.
Prime Minister Terrance Drew visited Taiwan in June 2024, where he met President Lai Ching-te and talked about the diplomatic relations between both countries. At that time, PM Drew said, “I want to build on that relationship with the new president so we can make it an even stronger relationship”.
