Premier Brantley and his party members participated in a beach clean-up at the Gallows Bay beach. This initiative came under the NHCS coastal clean-up. Every year, several clean-ups are performed for the betterment of the country, which also focuses on inspiring people to keep their country neat and clean.
St. Kitts and Nevis bought this initiative to make their country free from plastic products that contribute to water pollution. Premier Brantley and his party people reached the site of Gallows Bay beach and worked together to give a major cleaning to the beach.
Mr. Brantley took them to their official Facebook handle, where they updated the internet users about the Gallows Bay beach clean-up. He and his party people did an early morning clean-up to avoid disturbing people.
He also happily said, “Each year, we are pleased to participate as a team while encouraging our citizens and residents to keep our beloved Nevis clean. We know #NevisNice, so let us work together to keep it that way.”
It’s been 32 years since the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society (NHCS) organized its annual coastal clean-up for the betterment of the country. Usually, these are performed in September to mark the International Coastal Day Clean-up. People gather and clean their homes and surroundings to make their country a better place to live.
This clean-up involves several volunteers from across the country, such as schools, colleges, offices, government agencies, etc. After this clean-up day took place, it constantly provided a cleaner environmental space. It has also protected marine life and safeguarded the beauty and uniqueness of the island.
While cleaning up, several activities take place, including collecting trash, debris, and various other pollutant materials from the beaches. This helps clean the beachside and keeps the place beautiful and tidy.
The recent gathering for the NHCS coastal clean-up in St. Kitts and Nevis was a successful event. Over 200 volunteers, including young adults and children, participated in the clean-up. The voluntary effort that was made by the people is something required for the country. NHCS is already planning ahead for its upcoming coastal clean-up for the following year.
It is expected that this initiative will contribute the most to the country. With the help of social media, various awareness campaigns are being conducted to promote this important event. Sources indicate that Annual Coastal Clean-ups will make the country cleaner and better and will protect the country from problems like global warming, pollution, etc.
