Charlestown- To give a further push to the agenda related to economic development, renewable energy, and mutual policy interests, Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew and Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley held the second joint Cabinet meeting, during which the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating on key issues.
The meeting was held at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Saint Kitts, where the two leaders held open discussions on a wide range of issues.
However, the focus of this dialogue was to promote economic development and transition towards green energy by promoting geothermal projects.
Interacting with media persons after the meeting, the two leaders stated that both administrators needed to collaborate and work together on common goals for the collective good of the people.
The two leaders stated that despite political differences both administrations were working together in areas of concern.
During the meeting, both leaders acknowledged that it was crucial to promote geothermal energy to bring down the cost of power and ensure that the Twin Island Federation was no longer dependent on imported fossil fuel to meet the energy demands of the citizens.
By promoting geothermal energy, both administrations want to bring down greenhouse emissions while ensuring that the local environment remains sustainable for future generations.
Saint Kitts and Nevis has set ambitious goals as far as geothermal energy and bringing down the nation’s reliance on imported fuel are concerned.
Premier Brantley said that open communication and cooperation were essential to meet the common goals of the Twin Islands and both administrations were working together to overcome various challenges and ensure good governance for the citizens.
Prime Minister Dr. Drew said that both administrations were working together to achieve common goals and that the cooperation between them was growing and expressed hope that it would evolve positively.
He said that open dialogue between both administrations could resolve complex issues while ensuring the betterment of the citizens.
Premier Brantley said that both the leaders have been able to find middle ground to resolve various issues, as this was the only way forward in meeting various challenges being faced by the Twin Island Federation.
He said that the importance of geothermal energy has been recognized by the leaders of both administrations, and they were now working in tandem with each other to ensure that the geothermal energy project is completed in the stipulated time so that the Federation can reap its benefits.
The prime minister said that despite the political differences between the administrations of Saint Kitts and Nevis, they were committed to addressing the issues through a collective approach.
He said that both the leaders had put their administrations in a position to deal with all the challenges despite the political differences. He said that through cooperation, the administrations of the Twin Islands can create multiple opportunities for the citizens, and this cooperation must continue in the years to come.
