Nevis: The Homecoming Celebration has been cancelled due to the inclement weather conditions in Nevis on Wednesday. The heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms halted the celebration of the Culturama for one day as the focus has been shifted toward Herbert’s Beach.
The planning have been started in Nevis for Herbert Beach Affairs which is scheduled to be held on Monday as part of the Culturama activity. The beach affair will feature entertaining performances, cultural events and games for the kids.
The string band is invited for the entertainment of the patrons who will present Nevisian music at the cultural celebration. With Kollison Band, the atmosphere at the Beach Affairs will be enhanced while strengthening local art.
The pageants will also be held in the event including Senior Calypso Finalist and Ms Culture Queen contestants. The participants will compete in the display of their talents and capability for the coveted titles in the Culturama Festival 2024.
DJs will also be present at the beach to make people groove on the beats of DJ Lalbo and DJ Zimba, aiming to create a cultural presence on the stage.
The appearances from Troupes and Mass Bands for Culturama 50 will be held in the beach affair, showcasing their talents and skills to the tourists. Through the event, the local artistes and artisan vendors will place their stalls and get access to the diverse nature of the customers with new market options.
The bingo games will also be held in the beach affairs in which the patrons will be invited for jackpot of $5000 prizes. With the bingo cards, the tourists will be given $100 and in the first game, they will get $2000. In the second game, the prize has been decided $3000.
The event will kick off at 7 pm at Herbert’s Beach as the Culturama is approaching in its main events.
Notably, Thursday was also declared public half-holiday for the celebration of the Junior Cultural Street Parades under the theme- “Illuminate,” The parade was started at 2 pm from the Old Artisan Village and ended at the Villa Grounds as part of the Culturama Festival 2024.
