The host nation, India defeated West Indies by 60 runs in the third and final match to win the Women’s T20I series on Thursday.
The Indian Women team posted their highest-ever total in T20I, scoring 217-4 in 20 overs. This remarkable victory by India also marked their first T20I series win at their home soil since October, 2019.
Indian Captain, Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh were the stars of the match who played brilliant knocks for their team, helping them to set a dominating and strong total.
What happened on the final match between West Indies and India
The match began with West Indies Women winning the toss and deciding to bowl first. After the departure of the opener Uma Chetra, the Captain Smriti Mandhana took over the command. Smriti Mandhana scored 77 runs in 47 deliveries, hitting 13 fours and 1 six.
Richa Ghosh smashed a record-equalling 18 ball fifty, scoring 54 runs in 21 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 3 sixes. Jeremiah Rodrigues and Raghvi Anand Singh Bist also played handy knocks, contributing 39 and 31 runs respectively.
Following the remarkable batting performance by Indian team, Windies Women came to bat. The openers of the West Indies team failed to create any major impact with the bat. The players including Hayley Matthews, Qiana Joseph, Deandra Dottin and Shermaine Campbelle departed at 22, 11, 25 and 17 runs respectively.
When Chinelle Henry tried to gain some momentum, she failed to receive support from any other player, got caught out by Smriti Mandhana in Deepti Sharma’s ball. Campbelle scored 43 runs in 16 balls, smashing 3 fours and 4 sixes, playing the knock at impressive strike rate of 268.75.
After her dismissal, West Indies Women team could not put up the match of a fight and fell way short. Indian Radha Yadav was the pick of the bowlers, claiming a four-wicket haul by giving away only 29 runs.

Richa Ghosh was awarded the Player of the Match for her entertaining knock, completing her 50 in just 18 balls. She expressed excitement and said that they got a good start in beginning and that’s how they kept the momentum going in their favour.

The Captain of the West Indies, Hayley Matthews congratulated Indian team and appreciated the knock played by Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh. She appreciated her team for working great with the bat in the series and said that certain improvements are required in the field.
