GuyExpo 2024, the Caribbean’s longest-running trade and investment exposition, opened officially on November 14, at the National Exhibition Centre in Sophia, Georgetown.
This year’s event themed “Guyana on Show: The Fastest Growing Economy,” exhibits the fact that Guyana is indeed on the track of noticeable infrastructure development with a growing economy. The exhibition this year features over 280 local and international exhibitors.
Guyana’s President, Dr. Irfaan Ali, inaugurated the expo, which he called a celebration of entrepreneurship, creativity, and good governance policy. He called for celebration of the private sector that motivates all businesses, be it big or small. The four-day exposition is expected to host more than 100,000 visitors.
Currently, the exposition showcases the different sectors of the economy of Guyana such as manufacturing, agro-processing, arts and craft, and technology. Participants are multinationals who have partnered with local entrepreneurs in order to showcase different products and services.
Tourism, Industry and Commerce Minister, Oneidge Walrond described the event as an exhibition that will help push to the level where CARICOM aims to cut the food imports by 25% by the year 2025.
Besides trade, GuyExpo has other activities that are entertaining and interactive. It has hosted food courts where both international and local delicacies can be found. There are also slots for live entertainment, as well as a children’s zone, making it a truly family-friendly event.
Special features include entry on Friday being free for schoolchildren does portray the vision that the event holds towards moving forward, with participation from each and every section and age group of the community.
Apart from being the avenue for business persons, the event is a networking ground for businesses. This avails the exhibition of an opportunity to engage their prospective partners and buyers, therefore maximizing visibility and competitiveness.

Established in 1995, GuyExpo is a collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce, GO-Invest, and the private sector on the nation. Although the event was put to pause for six years, it returned to limelight in 2023 to reclaim its status as the superior regional showpiece.
The expo is the manifestation of the country’s progression towards a much sustainable future. Its strategic investments are channeled mainly towards agriculture, energy, and infrastructural development. In this regard, Guyana places itself atop the regional chart in terms of trade and innovation.
