The Ministry of Youth and Sports, Grenada has congratulated the Triathlon Team from the country on winning one gold and two silver medals at the CARIFTA Triathlon and Aquathlon Championships. The event was held in Barbados over the weekend.
The champions that represented the country and made it proud by winning medals include Coby Sylvester, who won the 1st spot in the Male 20-21 age group Triathlon. The second position was won by Kemar Richards of Jamaica.
The other athlete that won 2nd place in the Female 16-19 age group Triathlon is Nina James. In a similar category, Isis Gaskin of Barbados stood first, and Launy Duncombe of the Bahamas stood 3rd.
Similarly, Nina James also clinched 2nd position in the Female 16-19 age group Aquathlon.
Further, the award of the most spirited athlete of the Championship was also won by the athlete named Young Angeliner Bain who was also part of the team that went to represent Grenada at the CARIFTA Triathlon and Aquathlon Championships 2024.
It is to be noted that the CARIFTA Triathlon Spirit Award is designed to appreciate an athlete who has demonstrated true spirit of sportsmanship, commitment, and passion throughout the competition.
This CARIFTA Triathlon Spirit Award honors the sportsperson who, regardless of their performance, consistently demonstrates a positive attitude, encourages fellow competitors, and symbolizes the values of teamwork and determination.
The authorities stated that “the recipient of this award is the one who inspires others through their commitment to the sport and their unwavering support for their peers, making a lasting impact on the CARIFTA Triathlon community.”
The Ministry also commended the other athletes who represented the island nation at the stage that had best players sent by other neighbouring countries and performed their best at the platform which is considered a significant stage for every sportsman to showcase their skill and determination towards the sports.
