‘Digicel Rising Stars’ will officially crown their season 20 winner of the show after completing their closing ceremony.
Digicel Rising Stars, a popular show in Jamaica, will wind up with their Season 20 after crowning the winner of the show. The two finalists, Akeen Fennell and Renecia Bernard have been giving tough competition to each other ever since the show began. With their great performance and huge votes from fans, the show will end with the closing ceremony. After the closing ceremony, one finalist will be crowned with the ‘Digicel Rising Stars’ Trophy.
The entire season was a combination of talent and entertainment. All the season 20 participants performed well in the show. The Digicel Rising Stars have always provided a large platform for various musical talents. Since 2004, the show has successfully contributed to the careers of many great Jamaican artists, including Christopher Martin, Romain Virgo, and Tessanne Chin. These artists have reached higher positions in the music industry both locally and internationally.
Both the finalists of the Digicel Rising Star shared their experiences regarding the show. Akeen Fennel said, “I tend to be more of a reserved person; I stick to myself and try not to bother people, and this show has really helped me to change and be more outspoken.”
Since Renecia Bernard had her first time in the finale, she faced some negative comments on competing with defending champion Akeen Fennel. She said, “They’re saying I should be dropping out already. When they’re talking, I don’t really stay to hear what they have to say because I’m not entertaining the negativity. So, I just walked away,”
The local page of Jamaica shared the update regarding the ‘Digicel Rising Star.’ They have said that the voting has been tougher since both the finalists are outstanding. Both the finalists have expressed their excitement and nervousness regarding the result. Netizens have shown support to both the great talents and have expected the win deserving.
Sharon Schroeter, producer of the show, said, “I would love to have just more support for the show. I know that 20 years is a long time for it to be on the air – much less 21. But the fact that we have achieved so much, combined with the stars we have released to Jamaica”. She also said that Jamaica has great talent, and this platform gives them a space to express themselves completely on the stage.
The show producer has expressed her opinions on both the finalists. She has equally supported both, given their performance throughout the show. She also said, “We are going to be celebrating 20 years of ‘Digicel Rising Stars.’ We are trying to bring back this ‘Mas Camp’ type of vibe. So, we are moving everything on the outside, and we’re opening it up to the public with invitations,” Schroeter said.
