Roseau, Dominica: The housing development in Scott’s Head is near completion and set to welcome sixteen deserving families in Dominica. The project is the first of ten planned sites and boasts breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean.
The project is now 95 percent complete, and the remaining work of the local contractors will soon be completed. The work which is yet to be done includes final interior finishes, MEP fixtures and landscaping.
The housing unit is considered as one of the most beautiful on the island and will soon provide new homes just in time after Hurricane Beryl’s impact on the southern tip. The announcement was made by Minister of Housing- Melissa Skerrit who toured the site on Friday and inspected the entire work which is progressing rapidly.
The Scott’s Head Housing Project is a modern and sustainable residential unit in the serene Savanne area. Spanning 12, 207 square metres, the development is fully funded by the Citizenship by Investment Programme.
The project involved the construction of three-bedroom bungalow units and single bedroom duplexes. The bungalow units feature a spacious living and kitchen area, three comfortable bedrooms, two modern bathrooms, a dedicated laundry area and a patio.
Meanwhile, the single bedroom unit also consisted of cozy living and kitchen area, one bathroom, a laundry area and a shared veranda. It is built with reinforced concrete and masonry block work and all structures are designed to combat the impact of adverse weather conditions.
The housing units are being built under the resilience agenda of Dominica under which the infrastructure is constructed which could withstand natural calamities. The construction process will ensure the safety and durability of all the residents, aiming to provide concrete houses to the deserving families who have lost their livelihoods during the passage of Hurricane Maria in 2017.
The housing unit is ready to welcome its new residents for quarter four of 2024. Melissa Skerrit added that Scott’s Head Development is not just about building homes, it is about creating a community that will provide safe, comfort and modern living standards.
