Roseau, Dominica: Dominica launched the E-services portal which is accessible at eservice.com.dm, allowing the public to submit applications, make payment and access information of over 19 services.
The announcement was made during the 2024/2025 budget presentation in parliament on Friday by Minister of Finance- Dr Irving McIntyre. He announced that the portal is available for 24 hours and 7 days per week, enabling users to apply and pay for birth, marriage, death certificates, license permits and other services from anywhere in the world.
The portal is aimed at conducting business with the seamless process which will result in the convenience and more efficient time management for Dominicans.
This fiscal year will also witness the implementation of an E-office, document managing system, and digital signature framework for the public officers. A contract for the design and installation of these systems has already been awarded.
“This system will improve the administrative efficiency, lead to system cost saving, contribute to the environmental sustainability, ”said the finance minister.
In addition, the process of identifying render provides a digital system that will allow the government to make payments, particularly for social assistance via cards than cash, eliminating the bulk cash processing.
Under this system, the recipient will receive cards and payment will be directly loaded onto them, offering a most secure and convenient means of payment.
He also called private entities to partner with the government to enhance digitization and asked the people to use means of digital payments. He said that the business should utilize digital marketing platforms, e-commerce methods and other mobile applications to interact with the customers as through this they can expand reach and revenue.
The government of Dominica is also taking cyber security measures for the security of the users. Dominica has recognized that the key component for resilience and sustainability is leveraging technology to enhance access and improve service delivery in both private and public sector.

This year, the government has been providing training for micro, small and medium enterprises to manage online and effectively use social media.
He also talked about the grants given to 77 young entrepreneurs in the sectors such as IT, music, agroprocessing, and services.
