Bahamas: Devynne Charlton from the Bahamas advanced to the finals of the 100m hurdles in the ongoing Paris Olympics on Friday. She recorded a time of 12.50 in heat 1 of the semi-final round of the event.
She will now run in the finals of the event at 1: 35 pm tomorrow as per the Bahamas time. The sprint hurdles led the charge for Team Bahamas at the Paris Olympics as Devynne Charlton and Charisma Taylor advanced to the semi-finals of the 100m hurdles.
While, the third athlete in the event was Denisha Cartwright who failed to qualify for semi-finals of 100m hurdles.
Charisma Taylor had a personal best of 12.63 and placed third in heat 2 of the semi-final round at the Paris Olympics 2024. She failed to qualify for the finals in the 100m hurdles of the game. With the victory, she will eye at the first-ever medal in the Olympics as Bahamas has yet to open its medal tally in the event.
Bahamas is known for its track and field athletes, but they failed to win any medal in the Olympics this year. Now, the country will be represented by Charlton in the 100m hurdles, and the medal will be ensured by her in the game.
Paris Olympics 2024 is underway as it was kicked off on July 26, 2024 and will through August 11, 2024 with several events.
The Caribbean countries have been performing well by winning several medals in different events in track and field. So far, the Caribbean have won three gold medals- one in women’s 100m by Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia, second in Triple Jump by Thea Lafond of Dominica and the third one by Roje Stone won the gold medal in Discus throw.
Besides this, the athletes from Grenada, Saint Lucia, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago have won the medals and represented their countries at the global stage.
