Trinidad: The Caribbean Premier League continues its craze even in the 19th match of the tournament in which the Trinibago Knight Riders secured their fifth consecutive win of the tournament with a 12-run- victory over the SKN Patriots on Monday night, 1st September, 2025.
The match was being played at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad. At the time of the toss the SKN Patriots won the toss and decided to bowl first.
With the beginning of the first innings, the Knight Riders delivered a prominent 179/6 runs on the scoreboard in 20 overs. Their innings was a vintage display of power-hitting from the bat of the veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard. In the later half of the innings Pollard smashed his big hits scoring 65 runs in 29 balls. His innings included 8 sixes and 2 fours. Accompanying him and increasing the score was Nicholas Pooran who scored 52 runs in 38 balls in the middle overs.
Another highlight of the first innings was the bowling of the Patriots, the bowlers kept the Knight Riders in check, Nathan Edwards took 3 wickets giving 30 runs and Mohammad Amir took 2 wickets by giving 29 runs. Their bowling was doing its job by keeping the Knight Riders under pressure until Pollard came on strike.
In the second innings when the Patriots came out to bat they played a spirited chase. Andre Fletcher was the top scorer for the Patriots by scoring 67 off 54 balls and the second best scorer was Evin Lewis scoring 42 off 25 balls.
Despite their good batting momentum, the Patriots lost their wickets and came under pressure with Jason Holder’s spell who took 2 wickets by giving only 25 runs. Even after their efforts the Patriots fell short of runs and finished on 167 for 6 wickets, that gave the Knight Riders a hard fought but a celebratory 12 run victory.
Because of his excellent and powerful performance under pressure, Kieron Pollard was titled as the Player of the Match, giving the fans a reminder of his ability to change the matches single handedly.
With this win the Knight Riders have not only increased their unbeatable streak to 5-0 but also now sits on the top of the points table of CPL 2025. Whereas the Patriots will have to face some struggle and continue its battle to be in the playoffs.
