Grenadian Christophe Calliste has been qualified for the 2025 CARIFTA games, scheduled to take place in Trinidad and Tobago from 19th to 21st April, 2025.

The lone gold medallist of Grenada at the 2024 CARIFTA Games has obtained the qualifing standard of 14.00m in the Triple Jump at the recently held Inaugural Neville Glean Classic. The event was conducted at Kirani James Athletics stadium on Saturday.

Calliste qualified for the competition in his second attempt, marking a jump of 14.05. He later improved his distance in his third attempt, covering 14.19m, not only qualifying but also surpassing the standard in a bid to defend his title.

Christophe Calliste was the only Grenadian athlete to have won a gold medal at the 51st CARIFTA Games, held at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium. He earned Grenada their first medal in the Under-17 Triple Jump, achieving his personal best with a distance of 14.67 metres.

Grenada claimed a total of 9 medals in the 51st edition of CARIFTA Games, claiming 1 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze.

The CARIFTA Games 2024 was concluded on a successful note as Grenada celebrated its 50th year of Independence and hosted the tournament for the third time, following its editions in 2000 and 2016.

Jamaican team remained at the top position, dominating the entire tournament with 83 medals, including 44 gold, 23 silver and 16 bronze. They were followed by Bahamas and Trinidad and Tobago, securing the second and third positions respectively.

Bahamas secured 34 medals in total, consisting 9 gold, 13 silver and 12 bronze. Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago claimed 27 medals with 4 gold, 11 silver and 12 bronze.

CARIFTA Games 2025

The CARIFTA Games is an athletics competition which is conducted annually and founded by the Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA). The games were first held in 1972 and consists of track and field events including, sprint races, hurdles, middle distance track events, jumping and throwing events, and relays.

The 2025 edition of CARIFTA Games is expected to feature young athletes from countries across the Caribbean, fostering friendly competition, cultural exchanges, and sportsmanship.
