Antigua and Barbuda: The very first suspect in the alleged murder case of Asot Michael, Member of Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda has been arrested. Michael was notably found dead on Tuesday morning in suspicious circumstances.
The arrest was made on Tuesday, following the investigations made by the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda. Whereas, the identity of the person is kept hidden by the authorities until all the follow-up investigations are finished.
As per the reports, MP Asot Michael was fatally stabbed to death at his residence in Dry Hills and was seen lying half naked on the floor surrounded by a pool of blood.
Following the arrest made by the police officials of the suspect, they are investigating further for more information to be released. The Police officials are also thoroughly investigating the crime site, to find out proper evidence to find out the root cause of Asot Michael’s death.
Immediately following his death, social media users are creating havoc, while many ministers are also extending their shock and condolence. The tragic death of the 54-year-old political personality is also raising concerns among Antiguans and Barbudans due to the rise in criminal activities on the island.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne in his statement following the incident stated that the incident was a ‘deep shock’ for him. He recalled his journey and his service towards the people of Antigua and Barbuda and stated him as his ‘Brother’.
“Despite our differences, I regarded him as a brother. Therefore, I am especially saddened and disturbed by the tragic circumstances surrounding his passing. I pledge that our government will provide all necessary resources to the Royal Police Force to ensure a thorough investigation to bring those responsible to justice,” The Prime Minister wrote in his long heartfelt note.
